Derbyshire Falcons face Worcestershire Rapids at The 3aaa County Ground on Friday – we take a look at one to watch, Joe Clarke.

The Falcons will be looking to secure a first quarter-final in the Natwest T20 Blast since 2005 and Daryn Smit’s men will need to be weary of the Worcestershire opener, Joe Clarke, who has been their star player throughout the competition.

The batsman showed great promise from a young age, earning himself a call up to the England Under 19s squad for the World Cup in 2014 as well as a place in the England Lions side in 2015.

Clarke has been the Rapids top-scorer so far in the Blast scoring 358 runs throughout his 12 innings in the competition, making him the ninth leading run-scorer in the North Group.

In the reverse fixture at New Road Clarke got off to a flyer, hitting 42 runs from just 18 balls before he was bowled by Hardus Viljoen.

But his most impressive feat came in his sides’ meeting with Durham Jets when he made an unbeaten 124 from 53 balls, the highest individual score of the competition so far, helping guide his side to an eight-wicket victory.

See the Falcons bowlers take on Clarke in the final group game of the NatWest T20 Blast as Derbyshire hunt a quarter final place.
