Derbyshire seamer and bowling coach, Tony Palladino, visited Alfreton Park Community Special School for the presentation of a new minibus awarded by The Lord’s Taverners.

The Lord’s Taverners is the UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity and works closely with the Derbyshire Cricket Board (DCB) to deliver a number of projects in schools, including Alfreton Park Community Special School.

Last year the school received over 30 hours of coaching and table cricket competitions run by the DCB and this year further funding has been made available by the Lord’s Taverners to continue this delivery at the school.

The minibus replaces an older model and will be used by the school, for pupils aged between two and 19, to take part in trips and activities in the community. Palladino was joined by members of the Lord’s Taverners, including Derbyshire County Cricket Club Vice President Edward Wilkinson for the presentation.

Palladino said: “It’s a privilege to be able to support the school at today’s presentation. They do amazing work with limited space and funds and hopefully this new minibus will give the kids more opportunities to get out and be active.

“They are already making great use of the minibus and the kids love it.”
