Luis Reece took six wickets for Derbyshire on Day Two of the Specsavers County Championship game against Lancashire at The Pattonair County Ground.

The all-rounder took 6-58 as Derbyshire dismissed the visitors for 236 on the second day, with Ravi Rampaul (2-57) Logan van Beek (1-47) and Sam Conners (1-36) also claiming wickets.

Jimmy Anderson and Graeme Onions shared four wickets, before bad light put an end to the day’s play with Derbyshire 19-4 and the pair of Alex Hughes and Harvey Hosein yet to score.

Saqib Mahmood and Alex Davies resumed on Day Two with Lancashire 8-1, having seen Keaton Jennings dismissed by Reece for nought the previous evening.

After a steady start to the second day by the visitors, Reece took his first wicket of the day when he had Mahmood caught behind by Harvey Hosein for a score of 20.

He claimed his second of the morning when Davies (41) edged one to Hughes in the slips, before Haseeb Hameed (9) fell the same way to leave Lancashire 94-4 at lunch.

After the interval, Logan van Beek struck to remove Liam Livingstone (21) caught by Hughes to leave the visitors 112-5, while Sam Conners claimed his maiden County Championship wicket shortly after, trapping  Rob Jones lbw for a score of 13.

Dane Vilas and Steven Croft put on the first half-century stand of the innings, before the Lancashire captain was trapped lbw by Reece, who claimed his fifth wicket with the dismissal. He took his sixth wicket when he had Josh Bohannon caught by Matt Critchley for nought, leaving Lancashire 186-8, leading by 33.

Ravi Rampaul struck in the first over after tea to have Onions (18) caught by Lace, before Croft (53) brought up the first fifty of the match prior to Rampaul trapping Anderson lbw for six to end the Lancashire innings on 236.

Lace moved up the order to open the batting, but he could only make three before he was caught behind by Vilas off Onions, with Derbyshire still trailing by 80.

Wayne Madsen managed nine before he was bowled by Onions, who claimed his 700th first-class wicket with the dismissal.

Anderson took his first wicket of Godleman for a score of five, when he trapped the Derbyshire captain lbw in the seventh over, before Onions got Leus du Plooy lbw for 1.

Bad light forced the players to leave the field and no further play was possible at The Pattonair County Ground.
