Gary Wilson gave his first interview to DerbyshireTV after he signed for the Club on a three-year deal.
After returning from playing for Ireland in South Africa, Wilson chatted about his hopes at his new county, Derbyshire’s new coaching structure, his friendship with Billy Godleman and his off-season plans.
Wilson said: “I needed a fresh challenge. I’ve already been on record thanking Surrey for letting me go a year early and I’m now really looking forward to working with Billy and Kim, and getting Derbyshire back where we want to be.
“I’ve known Billy for years so hopefully we can work well together and I look forward to working with him again.
“The new model gives a lot of responsibility to the players and it’s definitely a model I am comfortable with. The players have to take that responsibility themselves and it can only be successful for Derbyshire moving forward.”
