Chris Adams (1988-1997):
Key stats: 13,575 runs, 31 centuries.
Adams scored 13,575 runs for Derbyshire across a nine year spell with the club, which included 31 centuries, 54 century partnerships and a high-score of 239. He won the 1990 RAL Sunday League Trophy and the 1993 Benson and Hedges Cup.
Sam Cadman (1900-1926)
Key stats: 14,056 runs, eight centuries.
Cadman was a Derbyshire player for more than a quarter of a century, and scored 14,056 runs in that period, with eight centuries and a high-score of 126. He also claimed 803 wickets, with best bowling figures of 8-70.
Donald Carr (1946-1963)
Key stats: 14,667 runs, 18 centuries, two England caps.
Carr scored 14,667 runs, 18 centuries and passed 1,000 runs in a season seven times for the club. His high-score was 162 and he featured in 31 century partnerships. He is the only Derbyshire player to have captained England.
Peter Kirsten (1978-1982)
Key stats: 10,692 runs, 22 centuries, 12 South Africa caps.
Kirsten’s five years with Derbyshire garnered 10,692 runs, including 22 centuries and a high-score of 228, one of six times that he passed 200. The South Africa international passed 1,000 runs in a season five times and features in 33 century partnerships. He won the 1981 NatWest Trophy.
Wayne Madsen (2009-present)
Key stats: 16,604 runs, 35 centuries.
Madsen has scored 16,604 runs across a decade with Derbyshire, including 35 centuries and a high-score of 231, passing 1,000 runs in a season ten times. He has been a part of 67 century partnerships and won the 2012 County Championhip Second Division.
John Morris (1982-1993)
Key stats: 18,521 runs, 39 centuries, three England caps.
Morris scored 18,521 runs for Derbyshire, including 39 centuries and a high-score of 229. He featured in 63 century partnerships and passed 1,000 runs in a season nine times. The England international won the 1990 RAL Sunday League and the 1993 Benson and Hedges Cup.
Les Townsend (1922-1939)
Key stats: 17,667 runs, 22 centuries, four England caps.
Townsend scored 17,667 runs, including 22 centuries, and claimed 969 wickets for Derbyshire. He made 22 centuries for the club, including a high-score of 233, while his best bowling figures were 8-45. The England international won the 1936 County Championship.
Stan Worthington
Key stats: 17,000 runs, 27 centuries, nine England caps.
Worthington scored 17,000 runs for Derbyshire, including 27 centuries and a high-score of 238. He scored 1,000 runs in a season ten times, featured in 52 century partnerships and claimed 624 wickets. Part of the 1936 County Championship winning side, he is also the only Derbyshire player to score a Test century for England.

The structure of the XI is based on historical selection to ensure there is depth in batting, pace and spin bowling. Only one overseas player permitted, with the overseas player that receives the most votes being selected for the overall XI.
The 40 nominees have been selected based on their playing records for Derbyshire with a minimum of five seasons’ service. All statistical information given includes the individual’s performances in all formats of the game – first-class, List A and Twenty20 – up until the end of the 2019 season.
