Derbyshire enter their final NatWest T20 Blast group fixture still in the hunt for a quarter-final spot. We look at how the Falcons can qualify for the last eight.

John Sadler’s side currently sit fifth in the North Group on 12 points, one point off Birmingham Bears who are fourth and two points behind Yorkshire Vikings, who are third.

What do the Falcons need to do to qualify?

The Falcons need to beat Durham Jets at the Emirates Riverside to give themselves any chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals. They will then need results in the Birmingham Bears and Yorkshire Vikings games to go their way. Defeat, and Derbyshire are out.

What if both Birmingham Bears and Yorkshire Vikings win?

Birmingham Bears are away at Lancashire Lightning, while Yorkshire Vikings are also away at Northants Steelbacks on Friday night. If both Birmingham and Yorkshire win their respective fixtures, Derbyshire are out – even if the Falcons beat Durham.

What if Birmingham Bears lose?

If Birmingham Bears lose at Emirates Old Trafford and Derbyshire beat Durham, the Falcons will qualify for the last eight.

What if Yorkshire Vikings lose?

If Yorkshire Vikings lose at Wantage Road, Derbyshire need to beat Durham and hope the net run-rate shifts in their favour. Currently, Yorkshire have a better net run-rate of 0.175 compared to the Falcons’ 0.089 – but a win for Derbyshire and a defeat for the Vikings should be enough to shift it in the Falcons’ favour.
