Wayne Madsen has risen to second in the PCA MVP Rankings for the NatWest T20 Blast after hitting scores of 37, 42, 52 and 58 not out in the first four matches.

In Derbyshire’s first NatWest T20 Blast match, Madsen made 37 off 22 balls as Derbyshire chased down Northants Steelbacks’ 179 to get off to the perfect start.

Next up Derbyshire faced a strong Yorkshire side at Chesterfield, with Madsen returning figures of 1-22 and hitting 42 off 28 in front of a sell-out crowd in a man of the match performance.

He hit a half-century finishing on 52 from 35 balls in the game against Lancashire but unfortunately the Falcons’ 152 was chased down by a strong Lightning side with nine balls to spare.

Derbyshire claimed their third win of the competition against Worcestershire Rapids, Madsen (58 not out) struck an unbeaten half-century and took two wickets, earning him his second man of the match award of the campaign.

In total, Madsen has hit 189 runs at an average of 63 so far in the competition. The 33-year old has also taken three wickets and his all-round performances have propelled him to second in the NatWest T20 Blast PCA MVP Rankings.
