Derbyshire Second XI were defeated by six wickets by Lancashire in the Second XI Championship fixture at Northern CC despite 73 from Greg Cork.
The visitors had begun the final day on 123-3 with a lead of 77 and pushed on to try and set a target out of reach for Lancashire with Cork leading the way.
Cork was Derbyshire’s top-scorer with 73 as they were bowled out for 262 with useful contributions from several lower-order batsmen as the hosts were set 216 to win.
As he did in the first innings, Ben Cotton took two early wickets to put the batsmen under pressure whilst fellow seamers Tom Taylor and Tom Milnes took one apiece.
It was not enough though, as a an unbroken partnership of 97 for the fifth wicket between Jordan Clark (52 not out) and Aaron Lilley (69 not out) took their side to victory with six wickets to spare.
