Hamidullah Qadri made a dream start to his first-class career, despite making his bow at the tender age of just 16 – the youngest ever player to represent Derbyshire.
In the floodlit four-day game at Cardiff, the Cricket Derbyshire Academy in partnership with the University of Derby graduate took 1-16 off 15 overs in the first innings, then 5-60 in the second to help spin his side to victory – the first Championship win since 2015.
He would make three first-class appearances, taking 10 wickets, and appear in one Twenty20 and one One-Day Cup game in 2017.
The promising youngster’s performances for the county earned him a call-up to England under-19s, at the age of just 16, making two appearances in the ODI series versus India.
And the spinner has committed his future to Derbyshire by signing a two-year professional deal, keeping him at the Club until at least the end of 2019.
