Elite Performance Director Graeme Welch reflected on defeat for his side against Essex in the LV= County Championship.

Essex wrapped up victory on the third day at The 3aaa County Ground with Ravi Bopara (4-29) and Ryan ten Doeschate (3-15) leading the way for the visitors.

“We are very disappointed with many aspects of this game. The best time to bat on this pitch was yesterday and today and we showed no fight,” said Welch.

“Everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong. We lost two seamers in the first innings and then as a result lost them as batsmen.

“But the rest of the team didn’t stand up. We were disappointed with how we bowled on the first day and the bottom line is that we need to get better.

“It’s the last chance saloon against Leicestershire to get a home win. It is all about performance, professionalism, application and attitude, that’s what we are looking for from all of the players.

“We have a bit of time before the last game so we will assess the players who are injured, but I would imagine that there will be some opportunities for one or two of the young lads in that game.”

Leicestershire arrive at The 3aaa County Ground on Tuesday 22 September for the start of the final LV= County Championship fixture of 2015. Supporters can save £4 by purchasing tickets in advance.
