The Falcons travelled to Emerald Headingley on the back off five-straight victories over Yorkshire, aiming to complete a 2019 double.
Wayne Madsen top-scored with a powerful 66, while Leus du Plooy smashed 51 off just 23 deliveries as Derbyshire put on a total of 2017-5 from their 20 overs.
Logan van Beek claimed career-best figures of 4-21, while Luis Reece, (2-27), Matt Critchley (1-21) and Ravi Rampaul (1-33) all claimed dismissals in the victory.
