Pre-Match Talk

Billy Godleman says that Derbyshire’s victory over Worcestershire Rapids was special, but has called on the Falcons to remain focused against Leicestershire Foxes.

The captain scored 92 to help his side beat the reigning champions by 20 runs at The Pattonair County Ground, which moved them up to fourth place in the North Group.

Godleman was delighted with the victory, but emphasised that the job is not done yet.

“We’re delighted to beat a really difficult outfit, Worcestershire are a really good team and they are reigning champions, so to beat them convincingly is really special,” said Godleman.

“We just tried to play the conditions on the day the best that we can. We knew that if we got more than 160, then we would be in with a chance of winning the game, and that’s how it turned out.

“The boys are pumped and happy with the work, but there’s still a lot of cricket and we will use the next 24 hours to rest up and go again strong against Leicestershire.”
