Ben Slater struck a century as part of a 160-run stand with Tom Knight (75 not out) to help Derbyshire Second XI fightback on Day Two against Worcestershire at Worcester Royal Grammar School.
Worcestershire resumed on 218-3 after a rain-affected Day One and they subsequently declared on 311-4, with Greg Cork taking the only wicket in the morning session as he had Alexei Kervezee caught behind by Tom Poynton for 60.
Derbyshire found themselves 78-4 in reply with Ed Barnard, who has been a regular in NatWest T20 Blast cricket this season, grabbed two wickets as Worcestershire threatened to run through the Derbyshire batting lineup.
Knight joined Slater at the crease and the pair flourished in the afternoon session. Slater scored 118 from 161 balls including 18 fours and one six, while Knight made an unbeaten 75 from 123 balls as the pair put on 160 for the fifth wicket.
Derbyshire declared on 250-5 before Worcestershire closed on 145-2 at the end of Day Two, with Wayne White (1-24) and Harry White (1-28) grabbing a wicket apiece.
