Seconds lose Twenty20 fixtures against Lancashire

Derbyshire Second XI lost two Twenty20 fixtures against a strong Lancashire side, as fast bowlers Matt Henry and Hardus Viljoen both featured ahead of the NatWest T20 Blast.

Lancashire won the toss in the first game and put Derbyshire into bat, posting 141 all out from their allotted overs, with Henry hitting 47 and Harvey Hosein adding 33.

The Derbyshire target was not enough as Lancashire surpassed it with seven balls to spare, Ryan McLaren unbeaten on 43 and Steven Croft hitting 36 as the hosts won by four wickets.

Two changes were made ahead of the second game as Gary Wilson and Hardus Viljoen were brought into the side replacing Charlie Macdonell and Callum Brodrick.

Lancashire again won the toss and elected to bat with England international Liam Livingstone top scoring with 64 before he was bowled by Viljoen (3-30), his second of three wickets. Henry bowled four tight overs for just 18 runs.

Chasing a score of 159-7, Captain Gary Wilson top scored with 31 but Derbyshire fell 65 runs short.
