Tom Taylor spoke of his pride after claiming career-best figures against Lancashire this week as the squad now set their sights on this Sunday’s trip to Bristol to face Gloucestershire.

Taylor surpassed his previous best figures of 5-58, which came against Gloucestershire last season, to return figures of 6-61 on the third day in the defeat against Lancashire at The 3aaa County Ground.

The 20-year-old says the side will be working hard to bounce back at Gloucester, which begins this Sunday at Bristol County Ground.

“It was brilliant to get those wickets,” said Taylor. “I took some momentum from last year and played a few Championship games then, and I worked hard in the winter on my bowling, so it was nice to get some rewards yesterday.

“I thought I bowled well particularly at Petersen, he was probably the big wicket for them, along with Prince, obviously he is a fantastic player.

“There are a lot of positives that we can take from the Lancashire match. Billy’s innings and Wes’ innings in the first innings for us, and we bowled well. Wes got a few and Mark did, so there are a lot of positives to take.

“We will now be working hard over the next couple of days to ensure we are ready to come back with a bang against Gloucestershire. It’s another big game and we want to get the win.”

The 20-year old bowler also revealed his delight as the club secured the signing of South Africa Test Captain Hashim Amla, who is set to arrive in early May.

“It’s a massive bonus for the club to get another big name signing. There will be a lot of great things that we can take from him as a team. He’s a great international player so we’re really looking forward to it.”
