Chesney Hughes is calling for supporters to get behind the Falcons this Friday in the county’s opening home NatWest T20 Blast fixture.
Derbyshire, who will include South Africa batsman Hashim Amla, welcome Lancashire Lightning to Derby, in front of the Sky Sports cameras, looking to register their first win of the new competition.
Hughes, who hit 59 off 44 balls last time out against Leicestershire, says the Falcons are not far away from becoming a winning team in the format and hopes the home crowd can spur them to victory on Friday.
“Friday nights at The 3aaa County Ground are special. The atmosphere is great and we want to put on a good show for our supporters,” Hughes said.
“The whole squad are looking forward to getting back out at Derby in the NatWest T20 Blast and are determined to get the first win on the board.
“We are playing good cricket in spells and if we can put a complete game together we can perform well in this competition.
“We’re always there or thereabouts but a couple of overs here or there cost us in the last two games.
“It’s little things and unfortunately we haven’t nailed those key moments in games, but every man in that changing room is confident we’re going to do that and confident we’re going to turn it around quickly.
“We’ve just got to get over the line and hopefully we can do that on Friday. It’s still early in the competition and we hope Friday can kick-start our campaign.”
Get behind the Falcons this Friday! Derbyshire return to The 3aaa County Ground on Friday for their first home NatWest T20 Blast fixture versus Lancashire Lightning; 7pm start.
