Ben Slater hit a half-century as part of a 101-run stand with Scott Elstone, but four wickets from on-loan seamer Andy Carter helped Glamorgan edge Day Two at Cardiff.
Slater, who hit his second half-century of the campaign, and Elstone, making his first appearance of 2015, moved Derbyshire’s overnight score of 47-2 to 132-2 shortly before lunch.
Both fell in the space of three balls, however, before the visitors slipped to 205 all out at tea. Slater top scored with 53 and Elstone added 48, but devastating spells from Carter (4-53), on loan from Nottinghamshire, and Wagg (3-56) limited Derbyshire to only one batting bonus point.
In reply, Glamorgan closed on 84-2 with Jacques Rudolph, on his 34th birthday, top scoring with 43 before bad light cut the day short with a scheduled six overs still remaining.
