Derbyshire Falcons will take on a Chesterfield Invitation XI in a Twenty20 friendly, sponsored by Brampton Brewery, at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield on Wednesday 1 July; 6pm start.
The Chesterfield Invitational XI will be captained by former Derbyshire fast bowler Kevin Dean and will be supported by Chesterfield coach Chris Marples.
Overseas players down to play for Dean’s side are Australian test bowler Michael Beer (Swarkestone) and fellow countryman Josh Clarke (Ockbrook), South Africans Jurie Snyman (Denby), Ryan Cartwright (Eckington) and Josh Savage (Denby) as well as New Zealand’s Graeme Tryon (Spondon).
It’s a chance to watch Derbyshire for free at Queen’s Park with great cricket, award-winning real ale, light refreshments and a BBQ.
The fixture will serve as ideal preparation for Derbyshire ahead of the upcoming Autoworld Volvo XC90 Chesterfield Festival of Cricket, in association with Chesterfield Borough Council, which begins on Sunday 5 July.
The annual event, which is now entering it’s tenth successive year, will begin with the visit of Northamptonshire Steelbacks in the NatWest T20 Blast, before Derbyshire take on Glamorgan in a four-day match which will start the following day.
The Chesterfield Festival of Cricket concludes on Sunday 12 July (2.30pm start) with the visit of Yorkshire Vikings in the NatWest T20 Blast.
