Nathan Rimmington is relishing the opportunity to make his Derbyshire Falcons debut in front of his home crowd when Durham Jets visit The 3aaa County Ground on Friday; 7pm start,
The Big Bash star bowler missed the county’s opening three NatWest T20 Blast fixtures with a finger injury but has been passed fit for this Friday’s home clash with the Jets.
Durham’s line-up is likely to feature Rimmington’s Melbourne Renegades teammate Ben Stokes after he was made available by the ECB for this weekend’s fixtures, starting at Derby on Friday.
Rimmington says he can’t wait to get started and hopes he can make an immediate impact as the Falcons look to build on last week’s win versus Lancashire.
“I am feeling good and ready to go,” Rimmington said. “Once I got the all-clear from the specialist I was just straight back into it building up for Friday.
“I have been able to do some gym work whilst I have been injured. I have spent a bit of time getting used to the ground; doing some laps around it.
“I’ve been able to bowl for the last week so I’m ready for the match. I will be fully fit and raring to go.”
He added: “The mood in the camp is really good. We weren’t that far off in the first two games but we put a really good game together in the third.
“Hopefully I can sneak in now and keep the winning feeling going. It would be nice to knock over a few poles early on but I have spoken about how one of my strengths is closing out an innings.
“I was really happy with the crowd for the first game when I was down here; it was a good atmosphere. Hopefully everyone can get down and show their support.”
England all-rounder Stokes, who was Man of the Match at last week’s Test versus New Zealand at Lord’s after hitting the fasted Test ton at the ground off just 85 balls, will be available for this Friday’s match.
Rimmington said: “I got to know Ben Stokes when he was with me at the Renegades last year so hopefully I can use some inside knowledge as it would be fun to knock him over.”
