Matt Critchley and Greg Cork shared an unbroken stand of 79 to guide Derbyshire’s Second XI to a four-wicket win against Yorkshire in the Second XI Trophy fixture at Marske Cricket Club.
Yorkshire were bowled out for 199 in 45 overs after winning the toss and batting first with Matthew Waite showing some resistance with a well-made 50.
Jonathan Clare continued his comeback from injury with a fine performance with the ball as he claimed 3-14 from five overs.
Critchley also shone with the ball as he took 2-20 while there were also wickets for David Wainwright (1-30), Rob Hemmings (1-42) and Will Davis (1-52).
Derbyshire’s reply got off to a shaky start as the left-arm seam bowling of James Wainman dismissed Clare, Tom Wood and Alex Hughes to reduce the visitors to 39-3.
Harvey Hosein (41) and Ryan Bramwell (31) helped to lead the recovery but Yorkshire took wickets at regular intervals to leave Derbyshire on 124-6 as Critchley joined Cork at the crease.
But the two all-rounders performed admirably as they both finished unbeaten on 44*, with Critchley scoring five fours and two sixes in a 38-ball innings, as Derbyshire reached 203-6 with 4.1 overs to spare.
