Graeme Welch has named a 12-man squad as Derbyshire Falcons take on Somerset in the Royal London One-Day Cup curtain-raiser at Taunton on Sunday.

Derbyshire reached the Quarter Finals of the competition last season and will have aspirations of reaching the knockout stages for a second successive year in 2015.

Chesney Hughes is set to feature in a 50-over game for the first time since 2013 while Cricket Derbyshire Academy, in partnership with the University of Derby graduates Greg Cork and Matt Critchley are in contention to make their List-A debuts for the county.

All-rounder Alex Hughes, meanwhile, features after recently hitting his maiden first-class century in the LV= County Championship fixture versus Northamptonshire last week.

Veteran bowler Alfonso Thomas has joined Sussex on loan in an attempt to be match for the end of the LV= County Championship, allowing the likes of Lewis Gregory and Jamie and Craig Overton the opportunity to thrive in the competition.

Australian all-rounder Jim Allenby will captain the side for the first time in 50-over cricket after arriving from Glamorgan at the end of last season.

SOMERSET squad to play Derbyshire:

Jim Allenby, Tom Abell, Michael Bates, Tom Cooper, Lewis Gregory, Tim Groenewald, James Hildreth, Jack Leach, Johann Myburgh, Craig Overton, Jamie Overton, Peter Trego, Max Waller
