Derbyshire chairman Chris Grant has praised the Heritage Project and says that it is a fitting tribute to the history of the Club.

The Heritage Project was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and showcases the history of the Club, dating back to the 19th century.

Grant, who attended the Heritage Lunch on Sunday along with a host of former players, believes that the history of Derbyshire can now be celebrated by all with the collection of images, books and memorabilia.

“The whole project has been absolutely unbelievable,” said Grant.

“To look at that rich heritage through the video and the images throughout the 145 years just reminds you of the wonderful array of players that we have had down the generations here.

“We have had the benefit of six of Derbyshire’s best ever players giving their own anecdotes about their careers and they have been fantastic.

“I think that it perhaps goes a little bit unnoticed that the Club has won five trophies in its history but over that time we have had some astonishing players come and go through Derbyshire County Cricket Club.

“With the benefit of modern technology and with all the help of the volunteers and everyone that has brought this together, we now have a living history which captures those 145 years.

“For the first time we have got all of our history and all of our heritage together into one place, its great and that’s what cricket is all about. We have got a proud history and finally now we can celebrate it through the Heritage Project.”
