Cricket Derbyshire Academy in partnership with the University of Derby graduates, Tom Knight and Harry White, have signed one-year contracts with Derbyshire, committing both to the Club until the end of the 2016 season.

Knight (pictured above) has put pen to paper on a new deal after impressing with the bat for the Second XI in 2015, scoring 660 runs in 12 three-day matches at an average of 47.14, including an unbeaten 156 versus Northamptonshire.

The 22-year-old also represented the first team in nine NatWest T20 Blast matches and one LV= County Championship fixture this summer.

White has signed his first professional deal with the Club after making his first-class debut against Australia in 2015, claiming 2-85 off 19 overs in the first innings. He made 11 appearances for the Second XI in 2015, claiming 17 wickets at an average of 30.

Elite Performance Director, Graeme Welch said: “Tom is continuing to work hard on his bowling and has made massive strides with the bat over the last 12 months. He’s made several match-winning contributions for the Second XI and earned a place back in the four-day side.

“Harry, meanwhile, has impressed in training and with the Second XI and we hope he can build on his good start this year.

“Both lads have worked hard last season and both want to improve. The new contracts will give them a good opportunity to show what they can do for us in competitive situations.”
