Wes Durston will captain the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) squad on their tour of South Africa this winter.
The MCC, managed by former England paceman and current national selector Angus Fraser, will play five 50-over fixtures and one two-day game during a two-week period, from December 27 to January 10.
Durston, who was named as Derbyshire’s NatWest T20 Blast and Royal London One-Day Cup Player of the Year in 2015, will lead a number of experienced county cricketers including Owais Shah (Hampshire), Neil Dexter (Leicestershire) and Chris Wright (Warwickshire).
Jonathan Marsden, who was a summer contracted player at Derbyshire in 2014, is also part of the 14-man squad who will get the chance to play on Test grounds at Durban and Cape Town.
John Stephenson, MCC Head of Cricket, said: “This is the Club’s final tour of the year and it promises to be a fantastic one.
“We have picked a very talented squad with plenty of current and former professionals involved, as we are expecting a very high standard of cricket.
“We will be playing two matches on 6th day Test match pitches at Kingsmead and Newlands, which I’m sure will be an enjoyable experience for all the players.
“Most importantly, they will be ambassadors for MCC and its work in a major Test playing nation, and I’m sure they will be a credit to the Club.”
