As another year comes to an end, we look back at some of the memorable moments in 2015.

It was a year that saw a duo of local derby victories over Notts Outlaws and Yorkshire Viking, a career-best double century for an overseas star and a record three-straight hundreds for Billy Godleman amongst over memorable moments from this year.

We look back at a few of the standout moments from the past 12 months.

Falcons down Outlaws at The 3aaa County Ground

Back in June, Derbyshire posted their highest ever Twenty20 score at The 3aaa County Ground to defeat local rivals Notts Outlaws by 34 runs in a thrilling East Midlands derby.

In front of over 4,000 supporters, the hosts posted a record-breaking 201-7, with Chesney Hughes top scoring with 52 off just 29 balls and New Zealand international Hamish Rutherford adding 37 off 20 balls.

It got even better for the Falcons when Nathan Rimmington, who took 3-24 on the night, removed Alex Hales with the first ball he faced.

Rimmington, Shiv Thakor (2-30) and Wes Durston (2-35) all took wickets at regular intervals to dismiss Notts for 167 in the final over and seal a famous victory.

Same again, we hope, on Friday 24 June when the Falcons host Notts Outlaws at Derby.

After an even first day, the New Zealand international hit his maiden first-class double-century to put his side firmly on top.

It was a typically destructive innings, which featured 29 fours and 11 sixes, as the top-order batsman hit 227 off 176 balls as Derbyshire posted 545-9 declared in their first innings. He was assisted by Shiv Thakor who struck 83 off 109 balls as part of a 190-run stand in just 30.2 overs.

Godleman completes trio of centuries

Billy Godleman, who enjoyed his best season of his career in 2015, scored centuries in each innings of the match against Kent at The 3aaa County Ground in August.

The 26-year-old hit an unbeaten 105 in the second innings, to go with his 108 in the first innings and 101 against Leicestershire in the fixture previous, to make it three straight LV= County Championship hundreds.

He became only the fifth Derbyshire player ever to achieve the feat and the first since Kim Barnett in 1990.

The Falcons completed a duo of local derby victories with a four-wicket win over Yorkshire Vikings in front of a sold out crowd at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield.

Wes Durston recorded career-best bowling figures of 3-14 to help to restrict Yorkshire to 146-9 of their 20 overs, ably backed up by Shiv Thakor who claimed 3-34.

Wayne Madsen (41) and Hamish Rutherford (40) provided strong contributions in the chase before Alex Hughes (19 not out) guided his side to victory with seven balls to spare.

Three hit maiden centuries

Three Derbyshire players hit maiden first-class centuries in 2015.

Scott Elstone reached three figures for the first time in his career on the final day versus Glamorgan at Cardiff in May, hitting eight fours and one six in his unbeaten 103 off 131 balls.

Matt Critchley, in only his second first-class fixture, hit his maiden century the following week at Derby versus Northamptonshire, striking 16 fours and two sixes in his unbeaten 137 off 179 balls.

Alex Hughes was the third player to hit a maiden hundred this year. The Cricket Derbyshire Academy in partnership with the University of Derby graduate’s unbeaten 111, which included 18 fours, helped Derbyshire recover and claim victory versus Northamptonshire in July.
