Neil Broom became the first man to hit five List A centuries for Otago after he struck an unbeaten hundred in the Ford Trophy victory versus Northern Districts on Sunday.

The top-order batsman, who has signed a two-year deal with Derbyshire to commit him to the Club until the end of the 2017 season, hit 124 not out in the 50-over fixture at Cobham Oval.

The 32-year-old hit nine fours and one six in his unbeaten century as Otago, captained by fellow Derbyshire man Hamish Rutherford, claimed a thrilling three-run victory.

His hundred was the fifth for Otago, a record for the Club, and a sixth of his List A career.

Broom is now the leading run-scorer in the competition with 259 runs in four matches at an average of 86, while Rutherford, who struck 49 in Otago’s last outing with Canterbury, has hit 121 runs at an average of 32.

You can watch both Broom and Rutherford in action for Derbyshire in 2016, with both top-order batsmen available for the entire campaign, depending on any commitments with New Zealand.
