Shiv Thakor is looking forward to welcoming over 220 guests to the Players’ Pre-Season Dinner on Friday 4 March – and places are still available.
There are a limited number of places available for the event which has been entirely organised by the players, led by Thakor, Tom Poynton and Ben Slater.
A host of Derbyshire legends have been signed up, including Bob Taylor MBE, Mike Hendrick and Devon Malcolm, in addition to local celebrities the Siddiqui family from Channel Four’s Gogglebox.
Thakor believes it has been a great experience for the players to work behind the scenes putting on an event and is sure it will be a great night to raise funds ahead of the Briggs of Burton Abu Dhabi Tour.
“I am very much looking forward to the Players Pre-Season Dinner,” Thakor said. “A lot of hard work has gone into it but I think everything is now coming together.
“I think it will be a hectic week now to finalise things but this is a massive thing for us. It’s been a brilliant experience for us to see what goes into making these events and what hard work it is.
“Briggs of Burton have been kind enough to sponsor the tour. It may not have been possible without their support, but we also raise half the money ourselves. We’ve worked hard and we think we are about there.
“Hopefully it will be a great night that we all can’t wait for.”
Guests attending the dinner will be treated to a three-course meal, prepared by the Derbyshire Experience team, in addition to a special auction containing limited edition Derbyshire memorabilia.
Individual tickets can be purchased for just £45, while a table of ten people can be booked for a discounted price of £350 plus VAT.
