Shiv Thakor has been named in the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) squad for the tour of Oman and Bahrain this month.
The 22-year-old flew out to Oman earlier this week for the 10-day tour and is due back at The 3aaa County Ground in mid-February.
Thakor, who was Derbyshire’s highest wicket-taker in the NatWest T20 Blast in 2015, follows Wes Durston in being selected for the MCC this winter, after Durston captained the MCC in South Africa in January.
The 15-man squad, led by former Queensland batsman Clinton Perren, also includes Warwickshire’s Oliver Hannon-Dalby and former Leicestershire batsman Michael Thornely.
There are seven matches scheduled for the trip, including a floodlit 20-over match against the Oman national team on Monday 8 February, and a 40-over match against Bahrain Under 25s on Wednesday 10 February.
MCC’s players will also lead a coaching clinic with 60 local children at the Boushar Cricket Academy in Oman at the start of the tour.
