Greg Cork returned 4-39 before hitting a half-century for Second XI on Day One of the three-day friendly with Somerset Second XI at Taunton Vale.
Cork’s bowling display was ably backed up by the rest of the Derbyshire attack who bowled their hosts out for 300 with Tom Milnes (2-66) taking two wickets and Will Davis, Rob Hemmings, Matt Critchley and Alex Hughes returning one apiece.
At the close of play, Derbyshire had moved to 81-2 in reply after Cork, opening the batting, had scored a brisk 50, alongside fellow opener Jonathan Tattershall (29), who is on trial.
