Tom Poynton believes this winter has been one of the best pre-seasons he’s been involved with at the Club and insists all the players are now ready to go, starting with Durham MCCU this week
Poynton, entering his 10th season with Derbyshire since making his debut in 2007, hopes the hard work over the winter can help him secure his place behind the stumps across all three formats this summer.
He said: “Pre-season has gone really well. We’ve put in some real hard yards this winter and now we’re all ready to go against Durham on Monday.
“We’ve been in the indoor school enough and the guys have been training really hard, especially when we have been able to get outdoors in the nets. It’s been a fantastic standard out there and a great attitude and the boys are just ready to go now.”
