Derbyshire appoint Chief Operating Officer

Derbyshire have reinforced its off-field Leadership Team with the appointment of Gary Parkin QPM as Chief Operating Officer.

Parkin joins the Club following a 30-year career with the police since joining the force in 1981, rising through to ranks to Superintendent and was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal in 2015.

He has experience working in stadium management in his role as Chief Stadium supervisor for matchdays at Derby County’s iPro Stadium.

In his new role, Parkin will be responsible for overseeing all operational aspects at The 3aaa County Ground including facilities management, security, safety and event management on matchday and for the increasing number of non-matchday events.

Chief Executive, Simon Storey said: “We’re very fortunate to attract someone of Gary’s calibre and experience to this new role.

“We are developing a 365-day-a-year venue with more than just cricket, with a growing conference and events business and community events such as a spectacular fireworks displays and concerts.

“We’re also preparing to host the world’s media and cricket fans with the Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2017. Gary’s track record in managing safe and successful major events will ensure we are ready.

Parkin said: “Having served the City of Derby for over 30 years within the police force, this new role is an amazing opportunity for me.

“The Club is entering an exciting phase with the construction of the new Media Centre, Women’s Cricket World Cup, fireworks displays and concerts planned.

“I’m looking forward to making sure that the operational plans are in place to ensure everyone that visits The 3aaa County Ground has a great experience.”
