Rob Hemmings completed a five-wicket haul, while Scott Elstone hit 42, on Day Two of the Second XI Championship fixture at Darlington Cricket Club.

Hemmings (5-65) continued to impress by dismissing G Sandu (18) for the final wicket of the visitors’ innings, and complete his first five-wicket haul for the Second XI. Durham all out for 245, a lead of 126.

Jonathan Tattersall (25) made a good start to his innings, first partnering Cricket Derbyshire Academy, in partnership with the University of Derby player, Ryan Bramwell (6) and then Captain, Scott Elstone (42).

Tattersall and his Captain put on 29 for the second wicket before the former was removed by Durham bowler, M Potts (1-22), with Derbyshire 40-2.

Tom Knight fell for nine, but Elstone and Harvey Hosein (25) responded with a 44-run stand before Durham bowler, Adam Hickey, with claimed figures of 4-58, would halt the progress removing Elstone.

After Hosein had gone, dismissed by Gurman Randhawa (1-48), Hickey went to work on the lower order by dismissing, Greg Cork (17), Tom Ball (4) and Hemmings (22) in just eight overs.

Cricket Derbyshire Academy, in partnership with the University of Derby Captain, Callum Parkinson (35*) dug his heels in and put together a partnership of 66 with his academy teammate, Cameron Ball (28). Derbyshire ewere all out for 247, setting Durham 122 to win.

Hemmings was in the wickets again at the start of the final innings, claiming 2-22, to take his tally to seven wickets in the match. Durham closed the day on 47-2, requiring 75 runs on the final day for victory.
