Saturday 4th June 2016
Written by Danny Painter

Derbyshire Falcons travel to Worcester on Sunday 5 June to face Worcestershire Rapids in their opening game of the 2016 Royal London One-Day Cup.

The Falcons will be looking to continue their strong start to the white-ball season, having secured two wins out of their three NatWest T20 Blast fixtures to date.

Ben Slater and Will Davis have both been named as part of a 13-man squad travelling for Sunday’s fixture, but Wes Durston misses out due to injury.

Worcestershire, meanwhile, have also enjoyed a positive opening to their white-ball season, despite being defeated by Northamptonshire Steelbacks on Friday 3 June.

Opposition

Worcestershire Rapids vice-captain Joe Leach says they will adopt “a fresh approach and different tactics” in the 50 over format this summer.

He said: “Everyone wants a chance to go Lord’s and play in a final and get some silverware and we’re no different to that. I think it is a competition that people have identified they can win now. Gloucestershire winning last year has blown the tournament wide open.

“We haven’t been at our best in that but I think you will see a fresh approach and different tactics this year so again we will be confident that you will see a different side.”

Worcestershire squad: Mitchell, Kohler-Cadmore, Clarke, Kervezee, D’Oliveira, Whiteley, Cox, Leach, Barnard, Shantry, Russell, Rhodes
