Derbyshire Falcons welcome Yorkshire Vikings to Queens Park on Sunday in the Royal London One Day Cup. Ahead of the fixture, we look at some memorable matches at Chesterfield.

The Falcons enter the Super Sunday fixture following back-to-back wins to start to the new 50-over competition, against Worcestershire Rapids and Durham.

Derbyshire will be looking to continue their excellent start when they entertain Yorkshire Vikings at the picturesque out ground.

As we look ahead to eagerly-awaited local derby, we take a look at some of Derbyshire’s most memorable matches versus Yorkshire at Queens Park in recent times.

Captain Wes Durston returned career-best figures as the Falcons claimed a famous four-wicket win against the Vikings in the NatWest T20 Blast in front of a sold out Queen’s Park crowd in 2015.

The all-rounder, opening the bowling, returned figures of 3-14 off his four overs, claiming all three opening wickets to reduce Yorkshire to 16-3 in the fifth over. They finally managed to reach 146-9 off 20 overs, with Shiv Thakor (3-34) also taking three wickets.

In reply, Hamish Rutherford wasted no time smashing 40 off 24 balls, including six fours and one huge six – with the maximum going over the Pavilion. Wayne Madsen top scored with 41 before Alex Hughes (19 not out) hit the winning runs with seven balls to spare.

Andrew Gale top scored with 51, but two wickets apiece for Tim Groenewald (2-39), Wes Durston (2-32) and Jonathan Clare (2-51) restricted the visitors to 238-7. The match also featured a young Joe Root, who hit an eye-catching 33 off 25 balls, before he was removed by Durston.
