Derbyshire Falcons will hope that history repeats itself when the two sides meet in the NatWest T20 Blast at The 3aaa County Ground on Friday night, last season it proved to be a good night for the hosts.

The visitors will have Andre Russell in their squad, but Hamish Rutherford and Jimmy Neesham will know plenty about him having faced the West Indies all-rounder in 2014.

Neesham said: “Andre’s a high quality player and contributes in all three facets of the game, that’s why he is one of the most sought after all-rounders in T20 cricket.

“Having said that, he is still human and is just as capable of having an off night as anybody else. So we will be looking to have a few plans for him.

“I have already spoken to the bowling unit about areas to target when facing him and if we can execute them on Friday night we will be able to nullify some of his strengths.”
