John Sadler says he isn’t worried about his side losing any momentum after rain hit the Falcons’ last two games.

The Falcons were due to face Notts Outlaws on Friday in a NatWest T20 match, followed by Yorkshire Vikings in the Royal London One-Day Cup at Chesterfield on Sunday, but both were washed out with only one over bowled between the two.

Sadler went on to discuss Wes Durston’s ongoing recovery from injury, Will Davis’ debut and the team’s preparations for the upcoming Royal London One-Day Cup game fixture against Warwickshire at Edgbaston on Wednesday evening.

He said: “We focus on what we do. We play against good sides whoever we play in this competition and format. We’ve played and beaten good sides, so we go to Edgbaston confident that we can get a good result.

“Sometimes you just can’t beat the weather. We are still working hard and going about our business and in the same sense still planning the same. We can only control what we can control.

“It’s part of the job description – being sat around waiting for the rain to stop, but it is, what is, and you crack on.”

Regarding Will Davis’ rain interrupted One-Day debut, he added: “He’s now made his debut. He didn’t get to do much though.

“It’s a good sign for Will that he’s there and thereabouts and is highly thought of. He’ll get his chance at some point and I’m sure he will be ready when that time comes.”

On Durston’s recovery and comeback, Sadler concluded: “He’s getting closer and getting more and more excited as that time comes.

“We’ve just got to make sure that we make the right call, that the timing is right, and not bring him back too soon in eagerness. The last thing we want is to make things worse.

“He’s certainly not far away, which is great news.”
