Just one over was bowled in the Royal London One-Day Cup fixture between Derbyshire Falcons and Yorkshire Vikings before heavy rain caused the match to be abandoned.
After a delayed start at 11.15am, Tim Bresnan bowled one over for the visitors who had earlier chose to field first, before the players were forced off at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield.
The heavy rain continued and the umpires concluded at 12.45pm that the match would be abandoned, with both sides taking one point each.
John Sadler said: “We only had six balls bowled in two games but I don’t think there will be any loss of momentum. We are still working hard and doing our stuff, still planning the same so we’ll crack on and control what we can control. It’s part of the job description waiting around for the rain to stop.
“We’ve played against good sides in this format and we’ve beaten good sides so we go to Edgbaston confident we can get a result.”
