Wes Durston says the squad will be focusing on what they can do on Friday night, as they seek a victory against Durham that could possibly secure a NatWest T20 Blast quarter-final berth.
The Falcons enter Friday’s fixture at Emirates Riverside needing victory, and other results to go their way, to claim a last eight spot.
While many supporters will be keeping their eye on Birmingham Bears and Yorkshire Vikings – with the Falcons needing either team to lose – the squad will only be focused on getting the result they need against the Jets.
Durston said: “That’s what we did Friday [against Worcestershire Rapids], we won the game and then we ran off and checked the other scores.
“Obviously it will probably be the same on Friday. We just need to take care of the 40 overs up there and then get the two points, and if we are unlucky then we are unlucky, but we just have to get those two points.
“There are three cup finals coming up and if we win them all then we have some more games to play, but first we look forward to Friday, a trip up to Durham and it’ll be a challenging game.
“If we can find a performance Friday evening then that will set us up for the weekend.”
Head Coach, John Sadler added: “We believe we can win all three games that we have coming up. We go to Durham on Friday looking to get a result, hopefully we get a bit of luck with the Birmingham or Yorkshire game.
“But we just treat Durham as any other game and what happens elsewhere is out of our control.”
