Harvey Hosein made his NatWest T20 Blast debut in the win over Worcestershire Rapids and described the feeling of winning a Twenty20 match as amazing.

Until the match versus Worcestershire, the young wicket-keeper had not played a first-team match in 2016 but says he has been working hard to get his chance.

Hosein is now excited to get to his home ground Chesterfield to begin the Custom Solar Chesterfield Festival of Cricket, in association with Chesterfield Borough Council and hopes to make his second Twenty20 appearance versus Northants Steelbacks on Sunday 3 July.

Hosein said: “It feels amazing to have won my first NatWest T20 Blast match. It was a new experience for me obviously coming into this match today, having got the call on the day from John Sadler.

“Just the whole atmosphere to do with the NatWest T20 Blast is great. We got here today, the crowd were filling up the stadium and the feeling when you win it is amazing. It’s just a good day all round really.”

“It is a bit different to red-ball cricket because it’s more fast action,” he added. “It was really nice to get some catches early on and set a couple of nerves, being my first game in this format. It was nice to take them and get amongst the action.

Hosein plays for Chesterfield CC in the Derbyshire Premier League at the weekends and can’t wait to turn out for his county at Queen’s Park.

He said: “I am looking forward to getting to Chesterfield to face Northants a lot. I play my club cricket at Chesterfield and it’s a fantastic ground.

“The outfields are quick so hopefully we see some big scores during the festival, so long as we come out on top.

“I’m also really looking forward to the Specsavers County Championship match against Northamptonshire in the middle of the two Twenty20s.

“I haven’t played a red-ball game yet this year so I am really excited to be back in the first-team squad now and I am embracing the challenge. Hopefully it will all go well for me and the team.

“I started this season in the second team but I have been working hard and hopefully that will pay off for me.”
