Squad named for quarter-final decider

Friday 29th July 2016
Written by Lewis Angell

Derbyshire have named their squad for the crucial NatWest T20 Blast fixture versus Durham Jets at the Emirates Riverside, as the Falcons chase a quarter-final spot.

A win for the Falcons, and a defeat for either Birmingham Bears or Yorkshire Vikings, would see the Falcons qualify for the last eight for the first time since 2005.

Wicketkeeper Alex Mellor, who has agreed an initial one-month loan from Warwickshire, comes into the squad to replace the injured Harvey Hosein. The rest of the squad is unchanged from the one that beat Worcestershire Rapids at The 3aaa County Ground last time out.

Captain, Wes Durston said: “That’s what we did Friday [against Worcestershire Rapids], we won the game and then we ran off and checked the other scores.

“Obviously it will probably be the same on Friday. We just need to take care of the 40 overs up there and then get the two points, and if we are unlucky then we are unlucky, but we just have to get those two points.”
