Derbyshire host Essex at The 3aaa County Ground in the Specsavers County Championship this Saturday 13 August, with Derbyshire hoping to secure their first win of the season.

The meeting between the sides earlier in the season ended in a draw, with Billy Godleman being Derbyshire’s main man, scoring 118 runs in his two innings.

Recent History

Essex have had the better of the recent meetings between the sides, winning three of the last five, with the other two being drawn.

The last five meetings at The 3aaa County Ground have seen Derbyshire win once in 2008, Essex win twice and the sides have drawn two times.

Essex batsman Nick Browne struck a career best 255 at Chelmsford in the draw when the sides first met this season.

25 – Tony Palladino is Derbyshire’s top wicket taker with 25 wickets in the Specsavers County Championship this season, with Shiv Thakor close behind on 22.

844 – Essex’s Tom Westley is their leading run scorer in the Specsavers County Championship, with 844 runs.

43 – In his final year of professional cricket, Essex’s Graham Napier is the club’s leading wicket taker in the Specsavers County Championship.

Milestones

978 – Wayne Madsen needs just 22 runs to reach 1,000 runs in the Specsavers County Championship for the fourth consecutive season, he will also be the first player in the competition to reach the milestone this season.

347 – Tony Palladino needs just three wickets to reach 350 first-class career wickets.

911 – Alex Hughes needs 89 runs to reach 1,000 career first-class runs.

1 – If Derbyshire win they will record their first Specsavers County Championship win of the season.
