As announced earlier today, Callum Parkinson has signed a contract with Leicestershire County Cricket Club.

Callum is a graduate of the Cricket Derbyshire Academy in partnership with the University of Derby and since being given his opportunity in the first team, the young spinner has appeared in four first-class matches taking 14 wickets including seven wickets on debut against Leicestershire at The Fischer County Ground, Grace Road.

The Club were, therefore, extremely disappointed to be advised in the middle of negotiations with agent Phil Weston of TLA Worldwide that he had been discussing terms with other counties and yesterday the Club were informed that the player had rejected the offer of a contract with Derbyshire and had signed for Leicestershire.

Derbyshire Chairman, Chris Grant, will be raising the Club’s concerns with the ECB.
