Overseas batsman Hamish Rutherford has returned to New Zealand to prepare for the new season with Otago.
The top-order batsman will miss the final two games of the season, starting with this week’s fixture with Leicestershire at The 3aaa County Ground.
Rutherford made 27 appearances across all formats for Derbyshire in 2016, scoring 979 runs at an average of 37, including one century.
Derbyshire have named a 13-man squad for their final home fixture of the summer. Tom Wood has been added from the squad that drew with Gloucestershire last time out.
