Supporters can now vote for the Showcase Cinema de Lux Player of the Month for the month of August.

Each month this season, supporters can cast their vote for their Player of the Month by visiting the Club’s official Twitter account.

We’ve selected three nominees; opening bowler Tom Milnes, all-rounder Alex Hughes and young spinner Callum Parkinson. All three enjoyed a successful August, now supporters can vote for their Showcase Cinema de Lux Player of the Month.

Derbyshire competed in four fixtures in August; Royal London One-Day Cup fixture versus Leicestershire and three Specsavers County Championship games against Leicestershire, Essex and Gloucestershire.

Player of the Month: August Nominees

Tom Milnes

Milnes marked his comeback to the first team with three wickets at Leicestershire early in the month before he claimed his best figures for Derbyshire of 6-93 in the defeat with Essex. He also took two wickets against Gloucestershire to take his tally for the month to 11.

Milnes also chipped in with handy contributions with the bat, making his highest score of 56 in the game with Gloucestershire, and scoring 97 runs during the month.

Alex Hughes

Hughes scored an outstanding career-best 140 in the game with Gloucestershire to set up an intriguing final day, before the rain forced a draw.

The knock came in difficult circumstances, when Derbyshire’s backs were against the wall with a first innings deficit of 89 and sitting at 16-2 when Hughes came to the crease. Hughes scored 255 runs in the month across all formats at an average of 42.5.

Callum Parkinson

Parkinson burst onto the scene when he made his debut in the four-day match against Leicestershire at the start of the month.

He took seven wickets in the match, claiming figures of 4-90 and 3-88 as well as hitting a valuable 48 not out from the number 11 position in Derbyshire’s first innings.

He has since taken three more wickets, taking him to 10 for the month, and has made himself a main stay in Derbyshire’s Specsavers County Championship side.
