Voting is now open for supporters to back Shiv Thakor in the 2016 Specsavers One to Watch award.

The all-rounder has been included in a shortlist of eight players; including Middlesex opener Nick Gubbins, the Lancashire pair of Haseeb Hameed and Liam Livingstone, Northamptonshire’s Ben Duckett, Essex duo Dan Lawrence Jamie Porter and Dan Lawrence, and Surrey’s Sam Curran.

Contenders had to be 23 or under at the start of the Specsavers County Championship season in April, and not to have represented either England or England Lions at that point. Curran, Duckett and Livingstone have made Lions debuts this summer.

Now it will be down to the followers of the Specsavers County Championship to decide. The polls have been opened for votes to be cast online for one of the eight players in the frame. Click HERE to vote.

They will close late on Thursday September 15, the last day of the penultimate round of fixtures – with the Specsavers One to Watch for 2016 to be crowned on Monday September 19, the day before the last round of fixtures begin.

Previous winners include Tom Abell (2015), Alex Lees (2014), Rory Burns (2013), and Joe Root (2012).
