Derbyshire will host its first ever day/night first-class game when West Indies visit The 3aaa County Ground in August.
The ECB has today announced that the three-day first-class fixture, which commences on Friday 11 August, will be played under floodlights with a pink ball.
It will be the first floodlight first-class game in Derby, with the Test match at Edgbaston the following week also set to make history becoming the first day/night Test in the UK.
Subject to final confirmation with ICC, the hours of play will be 2pm to 9pm. Pink balls made by Dukes will be used and the players will wear traditional first-class clothing.
Chief Executive, Simon Storey said: “We’re delighted to be asked to host this landmark fixture and supporting an innovative and exciting development for the game.
“It will be a great opportunity for cricket fans across Derbyshire and the East Midlands, who might have never watched a first-class fixture before, to enjoy a night of pink-ball cricket at the height of summer.”
George Mighty, Chairman of Derby West Indian Community Association, added: “We’re delighted that the touring West Indies side will be visiting Derby next summer for what sets to be a terrific occasion for the local community.
“The day/night game is an innovative step for the game of cricket, but offers many local people a greater opportunity to watch the international side on their doorstep. We hope it can bring the community closer together as we celebrate this historic game at The 3aaa County Ground.”
Membership will go on sale at 10am on Wednesday 19 October and the tour fixture versus West Indies is included.
