Former Derbyshire favourite, Devon Malcolm, will be the guest speaker at the Derbyshire Cricket Society’s first meeting of the winter, on Thursday 27 October 2016.
The fast bowler played for Derbyshire for 14 seasons throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s, taking a total 753 wickets across all formats for the Club, earning himself a county cap in 1989 and a Benefit Year in 1997.
His form for Derbyshire meant he quickly made the step up to play for England, despite being born in Jamaica. He featured in 40 tests for his adopted nation, taking 128 wickets, including best figures of 9-57 after uttering his now famous words “you guys are history” during a match versus South Africa in 1994.
He became a hugely popular figure at domestic and international level during his 20-year career, with his under-average ability at a batsman just adding to his already immense popularity amongst supporters.
Now 53, Malcolm will speak at the Derbyshire Cricket Society Lunch on Thursday 27 October in the Legends Lounge of the Elite Performance Centre at The 3aaa County Ground, starting at 12pm.
