Gary Wilson spoke to DerbyshireTV after he was named as the Club’s Vice Captain for the 2017 season.

The Ireland international, who joined the Club from Surrey on a three-year deal in September, will assist Captain Billy Godleman both on and off the field under the Club’s new coaching model.

Wilson has a wealth of experience both domestic and internationally, and has previous experience leading a side when he captained Surrey for five months in 2014.

He said:”I was thrilled when Billy and Kim asked me and I’m looking forward to working with Billy and to getting to know the players I will be working with.

“I still see my main role to score runs and take catches, but hopefully I can also bring that added little bit of experience to help Billy with his role and the team.

“I’ve settled in nicely, I’ve got my spot in the changing room so that will be me settled in for the summer.”

This year, the Club has reduced its Membership prices and simplified its categories to offer one single Club Membership at only £139, if purchased before 1 February Early Bird deadline. Join your county cricket club today.
