Club Membership for 2017 is only £139, if purchase before the end of the month. Reason to buy No.8: five days of cricket at the picturesque Queen’s Park.

The Custom Solar Chesterfield Festival of Cricket, in association with Chesterfield Borough Council returns from Monday 3 July, 2017, with five days of action-packed cricket.

The festival, running until Saturday 8 July, features a Specsavers County Championship match and concludes with the traditional local NatWest T20 Blast derby versus Yorkshire Vikings.

Derbyshire face Durham in the four-day match, commencing on Monday 3 July, to mark the start of the week-long Festival, before the Falcons face the Vikings on Saturday 8 July.

The traditional Twenty20 fixture versus neighbours Yorkshire Vikings is once again the closing event to the Festival, with a capacity crowd expected in Queen’s Park.

Chief Executive, Simon Storey said: “We’re delighted that our annual festival has once again been given a prime date in 2017.

“We have worked closely with Chesterfield Borough Council following last year’s event. They have conducted a full investigation into the waterlogged pitch issues we encountered in July and is undertaking maintenance work to fix the issues.

“Chesterfield is a special venue for cricket and we’re committed to returning to the beautiful Queen’s Park for years to come.”

Councillor Amanda Serjeant, Chesterfield Borough Council’s cabinet member for town centre and visitor economy, added: “The Chesterfield Festival of Cricket is one of the highlights of our sporting calendar and we’re delighted that Derbyshire will be returning in 2017.

“Whilst the level of rain was exceptional in 2016, we’ve identified areas of the drainage system that can be improved that will minimise any risk of a similar problem occurring again.

“Work will be ongoing during the winter period and more frequent and improved on-going inspections and maintenance will take place throughout the year and, in particular, in the run-up to the festival.”
