It’s only three months until Derbyshire welcome Northamptonshire to The 3aaa County Ground and the players have been working hard in preparation for the new season.

The first team squad have been busy working hard as part of their pre-season programme which includes strength and conditioning, and focused skills-based work.

Strength & Conditioning Coach, Jamie Tallent said: “The lads have been working really hard in training since they’ve come back from the Christmas break.

“Whilst cricket is beginning to become a major focus, the players also all have individual programmes that are designed to improve specific areas of their fitness, while support any technical changes in their cricket.

“This all ensures they are all ready come the first game in April.”

Captain, Billy Godleman added: “It’s been a nice break over Christmas but it has been intense since we have been back. We are focusing on cricket skills now and as soon as the month ends it starts to get competitive between the batsman and the bowlers.

“We are already thinking about that first game. We have been proactive since the start of pre-season in November discussing plans for the new season,  but it’s a process that continues to unfold right up until April and there’s still a lot of hard work ahead.”
